I wish I could say that I didn’t laugh out loud and nearly spew my Sunday morning coffee all over the glass of my iMac, but I totally did. In a nutshell for those of you who don’t click links to source articles(it’s an addiction I don’t recommend), Adidas put up this advertisement to “transform the urban environment with guerrilla gardening”. A fantastic idea, except that the plants in this big “green” shoe are plastic. “Plastic?”, you say. “Ya, like the kind that doesn’t naturally decompose.”, I say gleefully. Good effort Adidas. Good effort. Now all you have to do is make the Team
Zissou shoes and I’ll be happy with you.

Writing a blog isn’t quite all it’s cracked up to be.

If you are blog reader(does anyone read this?*) and not a blog writer you probably don’t even think about it. Really there is no reward except for personal satisfaction(similar to the satisfaction of a creator of any kind). I like having a blog because I like having an excuse to write about things that I think are cool that I would otherwise not probably talk to people about.

Personal satisfaction aside, writing your opinion anywhere and expecting someone to not only want to read it, but to find it, has always seemed a little pretentious.

If you are a blog writer, writer, reviewer, or content creator of any kind, you are familiar with the dilemma of content. Where does your content come from? Should I post 4 posts a week?
….20 posts a week?
How much is too much? How much is too little? Should I write a post questioning the validity of the very thing I am posting it to?

But I digress, I guess what I’m saying is that it is not a rewarding venture posting a blog that is basically about nothing and expecting people to read it, react to it, or tell anyone else about it.

Mostly thank you to all of you that do read. You validate me ever so slightly and knowing that anyone cares enough to take the 30 seconds out of their usual web browsing just to see what’s up with me is heart warming.

Thank you.

nick

*Quite honestly, I’m a big enough nerd that I go in and monitor the web traffic to and from my little dingy, cobweb filled corner of the internet and see if I’ve had more than the 0 usual readers. I exaggerate, though—I’m sure my Mom reads this. Love you, Mom.

“What’s a Bra Baby, Nick?”, you ask.

“Not really sure,” says I, “…but it’s damn crafty”.

For the lady types in the audience, it’s a crafty little bra holder for the washing machine. Apparently there has been a long history of that staple of womens undergarments coming to grief while being laundered.

I was unaware. Pack of two is $20 from here.

“Which list?”, you ask. It could be on a variety after all—Grotesque pillows, Godfather memorabilia, things to put in your house if you are Jack Woltz and so on. But the list that I am referring to is things that I wish I would have thought of first. There are other such greats on the list as deep-fried OREOs, Imperial IPA, Super Happy hour at Fire on the mountain as well as many others. All in all, I wish I could justify getting one of these, I just don’t think the wife would want an extra body in the bed, even if it is a horses head.

Buy it from Kropserkel here.

As I was reading a variety of design web sites today, I couldn’t help but notice that there seems to be a waning in functionality in a lot of modern interior design. It could be that I’m just not very good at spotting things, but I’d like to think that I’m sharp—maybe not the sharpest tool in the proverbial shed as it were—sharp nonetheless.
My catalyst was a photo set on Design to Inspire of Janne Peters work. Most notably this picture:

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a great looking sink and I think that it makes the sink sort of disappear in the room(You really should go look at the post of pictures if you haven’t already). Honestly though, what am I gonna do with that sink. Perhaps I just have big hands, but I would splash water all over the freaking place. All. Over.
I don’t know what point I’m trying to emphasize really other than that to my untrained interior design eye from the outside of design circles, a lot of this recent ‘return to mid century modern design’ stuff that gets more ‘modernized’ ends up looking flat. And I mean literally, not some lofty felling up in the air. Really flat. Like a pancake. Hopefully, if I have a say in it, my home will be curvaceous.

/end rant.
